Our Story
From Cherished Camp to Conservation Haven: Explore Whippoorwill Farm’s New Chapter with Whippoorwill Wild Arts—Where Creativity Fuels Rewilding.
Welcome to the new chapter of the Whippoorwill Farm Story—a tale of transformation, renewal, and creativity.
For 50 wonderful years, Whippoorwill Farm was a beloved summer day camp in Fairview, TN, where generations of children gathered to explore, learn, and grow. It was a place of laughter, discovery, and cherished memories. As time passed, it became time to embrace a new adventure while honoring the camp's rich legacy.
Today, Whippoorwill Farm is embarking on a heartfelt journey of rewilding. The once-bustling campgrounds are now being lovingly restored to support and nurture local wildlife. Rewilding efforts are dedicated to transforming the land into a sanctuary where local critters can thrive once more, creating a safe haven where nature's beauty can be celebrated and preserved.
But the story doesn't end there. We are excited to introduce Whippoorwill Wild Arts, a new venture led by local artist Rachel Lockwood that brings creativity and craftsmanship to the forefront. In the spirit of the camp's vibrant past, Rachel is repurposing the old camp buildings into a dynamic artist studio. Here, she channels her love for nature into beautiful ceramic art.
Each creation from Whippoorwill Wild Arts is more than just art; it’s a tribute to the natural world and a commitment to fostering creativity and supporting emerging artists. Join Rachel as she celebrates the legacy of Whippoorwill Farm through the beauty of art and the promise of a rewilded future. Together, we’re nurturing nature, honoring history, and creating a vibrant space where both art and wildlife can flourish. Welcome to the next chapter in the Whippoorwill story—where creativity meets conservation, and every piece tells a story of renewal and hope.
